An Update from Pastor Jeremy
I don’t talk about money with the congregation very often, but our current financial situation has me stirred up about the future of our ministry and what the Holy Spirit is doing in us. So, I asked if I could be the one to bring this important news to the congregation.
Two weeks ago we reported the encouraging news that January and February income was 9% more than we expected. Unfortunately, March is trending significantly down. We would normally wait to report until we had a couple more months under out belt, but we just can’t afford to do that this year. Hitting our budget numbers for this fiscal year is essential. If we don’t, we risk violating our bank covenants which will make the renegotiation of the $1.8 million dollar mortgage due in November very difficult and much more costly.
Our fiscal year ends in June, so March is a tipping point for us. The staff is limiting spending to match your giving, but there isn’t much more to limit in a budget that’s been cut by $600,000 over the last two years. I’m sorry to say that if our church’s giving doesn’t continue to be budget-positive we will, with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, have to cut additional programs and staff. Here’s the bottom line: we need to receive at least $114,319 before the end of March — and even more to continue the encouraging upward trend that began in January.
So, if you are giving generously, thank you so much. But if you are giving little or nothing of your income, will you please prayerfully consider giving more, starting this month? I’m not pointing fingers or trying to make you feel guilty; I’m just asking you to consider what the Lord would have you do. This is one of the ways we can all work together to present everyone mature in Christ
The Session is praying about this matter daily. Please join us in that prayer, not only that God’s people will give more, but that the Holy Spirit will give our leaders wisdom to know how to respond to what the congregation chooses to give.
As you pray, I hope you are reminded of God’s faithfulness. It is our privilege to participate in His mission to the world through Christ. May we live into the mission He’s given our church obediently and generously.

P.S. One enormously helpful thing nearly every disciple could do is to automate their giving (ACH). Please contact Brenda Saucier to join the 128 families that give automatically every month.
