Some Great News, Some Advice Needed and a Reminder …

First, the great news.  As many of you already know (but I have to have my chance to celebrate this), after months of effort by many committed souls, we received  the news last week that Ellis White have been granted a change of status to “R-1 Temporary Non-immigrant Religious Worker”. This will allow Ellis to complete his seminary training and continue to serve on our pastoral team. Obviously, we are thrilled that Rachel, Ellis, Evelyn and almost-born Baby Boy (due within a few weeks) will continue as precious members of our Chapel Hill family. To all who labored and prayed to make this so, thank you… and thanks be to God!

Second, the advice. We are trying to fill a new full-time Modern Worship Leader position. Under Kathryn McIvor’s direction, this person will be on point for our 10:47 worship, working with the great team that has been developing there. In addition, they will work with musicians in our youth department, discipling these young people as worship leaders for the present and for our future. I consider this Modern Worship position to be strategic and essential to our next chapter of life as a congregation. If you have any nominations for this position, we want to hear from you. You may contact Betsy Hunt via email or refer them to our web site (About Us>Employment).

Finally, the reminder: this Sunday is not only Memorial Day weekendunusually early this year—it is also Pentecost Sunday. You know what color you wear on Pentecost, right? Red! For my part, I will break out the pastoral red trousers. It will be a great morning of worship!
