In Summer!
“Winter’s a good time to stay in and cuddle, But put me in summer and I’ll be a – happy snowman!”
If you’re at all susceptible to pop culture, you’ll recognize this as a line from the movie Frozen’s loveable snowman, Olaf, in his song titled, “In Summer.” As I think about the upcoming Overflow event, I can’t help but feel the same type of enthusiasm that Olaf shares with us in this song! Winter’s a good time to stay in for Christmas concerts, but put me in a summer amphitheater and I’ll be a- happy worship director!
Serena Blair, one of our CHPC worship leaders, and a team of folks from other local churches have been hard at work for months preparing this year’s Overflow event. Our hope is that people from all over the community would connect with one another through this event, and that the testimony of the local churches of Gig Harbor would be one of unity, respect, and shared purpose. Check out these highlights, and come see us next Saturday (August 15) at Sehmel Park!
What is Overflow?
Overflow is a night of community worship that is supported by local churches. It is designed to create a space where we can come together to enjoy each other and our community.
When and where is Overflow?
Overflow 2015 is happening on August 15th, from 5pm to 9pm at the Sehmel Homestead Park Amphitheater.
Who is Overflow?
This year, Overflow is supported by Fox Island Alliance, Thrive, Believer’s Fellowship, Waypoint Church, and Chapel Hill. But primarily, Overflow is you!
What can I expect at Overflow?
We will be at Sehmel Park all evening! Rib Tickler and Gibson’s Frozen Yogurt will have food trucks on-site, the Kid Zone will be packed with fun activities, and there will be different live bands and speakers all night long. Bring a picnic blanket and camp out for the evening, or just wander through for a bit– either way, we will be glad to have you.
How is Overflow giving back to Gig Harbor?
This year, we are partnering with FISH Food Bank. Instead of selling tickets for this event, we are asking everyone to bring donations of non-perishable food. We are excited to support this local organization that loves Gig Harbor so well!

Worship Director
P.S. One of the other fun things about worship “In Summer” is that occasionally our sanctuary gets too much morning sun! Due to a necessary-but-tricky repair on one of the blinds in our sanctuary, it might be a little bright during worship this weekend. Bring a pair of sunglasses and enjoy the opportunity to get some extra Vitamin D! See you there!
P.P.S. Come pray with us this Saturday night at 6:30pm in the Memorial Chapel in anticipation of the launch of the Saturday Evening Service!
