Cambodia Team has Arrived
If you are reading this blog post, the Cambodia team has safely touched down in Phnom Phen. Those who have been before are basking in the familiarity of a country that keeps calling them back. Those of us that are here for the first time are experiencing the initial whirlwind of new sights, sounds, and smells. The first introduction to a culture can be a bit of a shock, but what a gift to have friends who have been here before, who know the good coffee shops, who know to avoid the restaurant that serves tarantulas.
Our first few days in Cambodia are spent learning and seeing, before we jump into encouraging and serving. Cambodia is a country with a long history and some deep wounds. In order to come alongside the work that Cambodian Hope Organization is doing in Poipet, we have to first learn a bit of the back story. We will spend our first day facing the tragedy of the Khmer Rouge Killing fields. Pray for our heart as we process one of the great tragedies of our modern times. Immediately after our time at the Killing Fields museum, we’ll visit our Festival of Hope friends at Village Works and see social justice through social enterprise. What a great thing to go from tragedy to hope!
Pray for us as we adjust. Pray for us as we process. Pray for us as we come together as a team through shared experience. We are thrilled to be sent from our church. Pray for us as we come alongside our Cambodian friends to listen, encourage, and fellowship together.
