Seahawks and Prayer
The Hawks are playing this Sunday at 10:00, which means that our Saturday night worship service at 6:30 will be very full and very fun. And whether it is Saturday night or Sunday morning, we will see a lot of jerseys with the number “3” on them. Whether or not you are a football fan, it is impossible not to notice the community that gathers around those 3 hours on a Sunday.
But you might ask, “What does that have to do with prayer” since that was the heading for this blog. Well, I’m going to tell you… this weekend in my message. In fact, I will do so with the shortest sermon and the shortest scripture text I’ve ever preached from. I’ll give you a hint: it’s in the first part of the Lord’s Prayer.
Not only will you hear the shortest sermon on the shortest text ever, you will experience a powerful and unique service. This is World Communion Sunday in which hundreds of millions of believers will come to the Lord’s Table. We will highlight six of our mission partners as we pray through the Lord’s Prayer together and culminate in the sharing of the sacrament.
This will be something very special and you won’t want to miss it. So, whether you come Saturday night or you record the game and join us live on Sunday, come ready to listen, worship, pray, feast… and celebrate.
And by the way, if you are a 10:45 worshipper, you won’t want to be late! We will start with a bang!
