Blessings even before touching Haitian soil
One of the objectives of this trip is to build relationships between the World Relief (WR) staff in Haiti and Chapel Hill Church. I am eager to meet Esther. She is the WR staff person directly involved with training pastors and leaders of 40+ churches to serve the most vulnerable in their community.
So in staff prayer on Thursday afternoon before the team left, pictures and general information about each WR staff was given to Chapel Hill staff members during our daily prayer time and asked to pray for that person during this week. God planned that there would be 19 WR staff profiles, and 19 CH staff in prayer that day.
I was especially interested in who received Esther. The person who had her name prayed for the team and the trip and Esther in her LifeGroup that night. Then on Friday, the Holy Spirit prompted her to connect with Esther through email. Esther responded, openly sharing her story and life’s struggles and joys. Well, it turns out that both of these people have a passion for the youth of their church. And their life verse is the same: Isaiah 41:10.
When we arrived at the guest house on our first evening (after taking a red-eye flight), I was greeted with an email about Esther and her budding relationship with our Gig Harbor church. It brought me to tears.
God is so good…all the time.
