God provides… again!
Who would have thought that two days before Christmas Eve that it was even possible for twelve pastors, school administrators, and ministry leaders to reply to an urgent email? And yet, that’s exactly what happened.
Subject Line: SOS!
Response: (universally) We’ll see if we can help!
Every single person was on vacation and/or preparing for Christmas. I was overwhelmed by the response. So now, drumroll, we have a temporary location for at least this Sunday and conversations with other places as hopes for a long term solution.
Meet us at Coffee Oasis at 10am on Sunday at 807 Bay Street in Port Orchard! Daniel Frederick of Coffee Oasis and the local team with café manager, Jason Boehme, and program director, Jacob Wischoff, are sacrificing a lot to let us come in, and on such short notice, no less. We are so grateful for Coffee Oasis’ partnership!
We’d love to see you at 10am for one service for worship. Here’s a couple FAQ’s we can anticipate:
- Kids – Upstairs in the youth space! Kids will worship for the first 15-ish minutes with their families, then be checked in to go up the stairs with our Family Ministry team.
- Parking – Sundays are unrestricted for parking downtown, whether ferry, street or timed spaces.
- Chairs – we think we have enough, but if you have sleek folding chairs at home, we won’t mind if you BYOC!
We’ll serve Coffee Oasis coffee (of course!) and lift up the name of Jesus right in the heart of downtown Port Orchard.
I was reflecting a lot on Psalm 16 this week, thanks to a friend who texted it to me. Consider this as you face your own limitations and hopes for this coming year:
The LORD is my chosen portion and my cup;
you hold my lot.
The lines have fallen for me in pleasant places;
indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance.
Psalm 16:5-6
We can only be at one place at one time. We only have so many hours in the day. We only know so many people. And this limitation is, itself, a gift. Both for you individually and for us as a growing congregation of people who are seeking to love God and love our neighbors.
The LORD is the chosen portion of Chapel Hill Port Orchard. He holds our lot. The lines for us have fallen in pleasant places; indeed, we have a beautiful inheritance. Isn’t it a marvel to see God’s provision for us?
See you Sunday to celebrate together!
