Spread the Message of Christmas

Spread the Message of Christmas

By Pastor Gunnar Tesdahl
Pastor of Worship Arts

“When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them.”
—Luke 2:17-18

The leftovers are packed away in the fridge, the decorations are up, and the freeway is packed…that’s right. Christmas is upon us! And there is no better time of year at Chapel Hill than Christmas, in my humble opinion!

This marks my eighth Advent season here at Chapel Hill, and each year I’m reminded of the incredible ways God uses this time to draw people closer to him. I can’t wait to celebrate with all of you—and to see how God will work through our services and events to bring the good news of Jesus to our community. (Although, full disclosure, if baby #2 arrives on the scene, I may disappear for a little while!)

Like the shepherds who spread the word, we are called to share that same message of Jesus! And, more than any other season, people are open to spiritual things and receptive to personal invitations to join you for a concert or a service. There are TWO upcoming opportunities to keep in mind as you prayerfully consider who God may be calling YOU to invite.

GLOW: A CHRISTMAS CONCERT EXPERIENCE
Saturday, December 7

GLOW is a dynamic Christmas concert that is a perfect occasion to bring along friends, neighbors, or co-workers to hear about Jesus through music, lights, and so much more. With two unique shows, there’s something for everyone:

  • GLOW Kids at 4:00 pm: At GLOW Kids, we’ll jingle, jam, and sing along to Christmas favorites, kid-style! Perfect for families with young children, GLOW Kids includes interactive sing-along carols, zany hosts they will love, and loads of laughs!
  • GLOW: Christmas through the Ages at 7:00 pm: More than a concert, GLOW features high-energy musical performances and stunning visuals as we go on an immersive Christmas journey through the ages. Geared towards adults and students, this exciting concert experience is the best way to kick off the Christmas season!

FREE tickets are available now at GlowGigHarbor.com. Make sure to grab yours (they are going fast!) and be sure to bring a long a friend…or 10!

CHRISTMAS EVE WORSHIP

There is something special about Christmas Eve at our church. The carols, the décor, Silent Night by candlelight. But most importantly, you can always count on there being a sermon that faithfully proclaims Jesus Christ and invites all who are there to trust in Him as Lord and Savior.

As you look at the service times, I would encourage you to not only consider when your family could attend so that it fits perfectly into all the Christmas plans. But also consider who you could bring along, and how you can extend the warm welcome and hospitality of Jesus to those around you in the pews.

Service times are Monday, December 23, 6:30 pm, and Tuesday, December 24, at 3:00, 5:00, 7:00, or 9:00 pm. Learn more about the services here.

FIND, TELL, BRING

The shepherds couldn’t keep the good news to themselves—and neither should we! Take a moment to pray about who God is calling you to invite. And then do three simple things: FIND, TELL, BRING. FIND someone who doesn’t know Jesus. TELL them about what’s coming up. And BRING them with you!

This Christmas season at Chapel Hill is an opportunity to share the life-changing message of the Gospel– the good news that God sent his Son to save us and make us part of his family forever. I can’t wait to celebrate with you and your guests at GLOW and on Christmas Eve!

Merry Christmas!
