A nobleman (Jesus) goes to receive a kingdom. He gives servants minas (money) to engage in business. The citizens oppose him, and Jesus shifts our vision from opposition to opportunity. The servants risk engaging with the opposition. The first gains ten minas, the second five. Jesus shifts our role from fruitfulness to faithfulness.

The master values faithfulness, not just profit. The parable challenges viewing success as the goal. Our role is representing Jesus, engaging in business on His behalf. God cares about our faithfulness, not just financial success. Shift your view of God from pirate to patron. God generously gives for us to bless the world.

Unfaithfulness has consequences; the unfaithful servant loses his mina. The parable ends with a cliffhanger, symbolizing our chance for repentance. If opposing Jesus, repent. If unfaithful with God’s resources, repent. Jesus paid for our unfaithfulness; receive His forgiveness.
