What did I learn about Jesus?

Jesus rises from the dead! And can walk, speak, and eat in his resurrected body.
All the Old Testament scriptures make sense when seen in the light of Jesus, God in the flesh (verse 27).

What did I learn about disciple-making?

It is Jesus who opens our minds to understand the scriptures. That is not our work as disciple-makers; it is God’s work in the lives of people (verse 45).
We can trust Jesus without doubting that he lived, died, and was resurrected.

Luke 24 – Hallelujah Christ the Lord has risen today! In this last chapter Luke talks about those who were eyewitnesses to the resurrection. Although they had walked with Jesus, listened to him preach and seen his miracles, they were all initially skeptical about the resurrection.

The women at the tomb needed gleaming angels to remind them of resurrection. The apostles did not believe the women’s report. Peter ran to the tomb to see for himself and still did not understand what had transpired. The two followers on the road to Emmaus did not recognize Jesus with them until he opened their eyes. When the two followers testified to the eleven apostles, “It is true the Lord has risen…” the apostles did not yet believe. Even when Jesus finally appeared in person to the apostles in verse 36, they were startled and thought he was a ghost. Jesus had to prove to them he was living flesh and bones.

After the apostles were finally convinced he reminds them in verse 45-49 that his death and resurrection was the fulfillment of the Scriptures and that repentance and forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name. He told them as eyewitnesses to these events that they would be filled with the Holy Spirit to preach the good news in his name.

Today I pray for the Lord to build my faith and remove any doubts in mind so I will be clothed with the power from on high to go and make disciples.
