A Church Worth Visiting on Vacation
If you’ve been around CHPC for a while, you know that the Toones take vacation mid-summer. We did and it was a wonderful, restful time. Thank you for that gift.
But, you might ask, why did we see you guys sneaking around here on Sunday morning and Monday nights in July and August? Because, we love this church. If we are in town, even if I am on vacation, there’s no place we would rather worship than here. And frankly, it is fun for me to sit in our sanctuary on a Sunday morning and worship without taking notes on what needs to be tweaked. (Although I’m not very good at it!)
And to show up on a summer Monday night to discover 400 Chapel Hillbillies and their friends partying and hearing the good news about Jesus together… well, it just blesses me to see the church rolling right along without yours truly having to be here, thank you very much. Kudos to our leadership team and particularly Pastor Larry who took the helm in my absence. What a gifted group of leaders God has blessed us with!
But the summer isn’t over and we have some more surprises in store. This Sunday night at 8:00, we will celebrate our first ever public baptisms in the Harbor. Join us at 8:00 down by the Old Ferry Dock. (Park in the Seven Seas lot and walk down! Give yourself time.) As of now, 16 folks will step into those cold waters to publicly affirm their faith in Jesus. How cool (literally) will that be? Then, on Monday night, we will bless our entire community with Jubilee in the Park. Join us at Skansie Park at 5:00pm for food, music, and celebration.
Meantime, I’ll see you all Sunday morning. (And by the way, we promise second service will end closer to noon than to noon-thirty!)
