Introducing Michael Reed Hackman
On St. Andrew’s Sunday, while you all were celebrating the memories of so many loved ones, we were welcoming a new loved one into the world. Michael Reed Hackman was born on Sunday, October 25 at 2:34pm. We could not be enjoying our first few days as parents more.
You all know and share with us the miracle and the answer to prayer that this child is. His name reflects that journey. Michael, “Who is like God,” is an expression of what we have been saying for the last year; only our God could do this. The name Reed started out as a joke, a first shot at a hipster name. But as we thought about it, Isaiah 42:3 came to mind. “A bruised reed he will not break, and a faintly burning wick he will not quench…” Who is like God? A bruised reed he will not break, just as he showed mercy on us. We have so many people we love named Michael (including brothers in both our families) that it got confusing to call him by Michael, so we are using his middle name, Reed.
If you want to smile with us, check out this precious face. And if you want to cry with us, listen again to Megan’s sermon from this past December. Our joy has had us both crying more than Reed.
Welcome to the Chapel Hill family, Reed.
Sincerely,
Your mom and dad, Pastors Megan & Larry
